حَدَّثَنَا إِدْرِيسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَطَّارُ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ أَبُو بَصِيرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَسِيبٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِالْحُمَّى وَالطَّاعُونِ فَأَمْسَكْتُ الْحُمَّى بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَرْسَلْتُ الطَّاعُونَ إِلَى الشَّامِ شَهَادَةً لِأُمَّتِي وَرِجْزًا عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ»

Translation

✧ I heard Abu Asib, the servant of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, say that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, "Jibril came to me with fever and plague, so I held the fever in Medina and sent the plague to the Sham as a testimony for my Ummah and a punishment for the disbelievers."
