حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ أَخُو الْحَجَّاجِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ

رَآهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فِي الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَهُ؟» قَالُوا نَذَرَ أَنْ يَقُومَ فِي الشَّمْسِ وَيَصُومَ وَلَا يَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اجْلِسْ وَاسْتَظَلَّ وَتَكَلَّمْ وَصُمْ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ saw him standing in the sun and said: "What is the matter with him?" They said: "He vowed to stand in the sun and fast and not speak." The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "Sit, seek shade, speak, and fast."
