✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “I shall tell you a hadith, so memorize it. The people of this world are only four: a servant whom Allah provided wealth and knowledge, and he fears his Lord in it, maintains ties of kinship with it, and works for Allah in it with its right—this one is in the best of stations. And a servant whom Allah provided knowledge but not wealth, and he is sincere in intention, saying, ‘If I had wealth, I would do as so-and-so does.’ Their reward is equal. And a servant whom Allah provided wealth but not knowledge, and he blunders through his wealth without knowledge, not fearing his Lord in it, nor maintaining ties of kinship with it, nor working for Allah in it with any right—this one is in the worst of stations. And a servant whom Allah provided neither wealth nor knowledge, and he says, ‘If I had wealth, I would do as so-and-so does.’ That is his intention, and their sin is equal.”
