✧ Yazid b. Rukana bin Abd Yazid bin Hashim died during the caliphate of Muawiyah.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ كَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ احْتَاجَ إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ وَأَنْتَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْ عَذَابِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ مُحْسِنًا فَزِدْ فِي إِحْسَانِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسِيئًا فَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ يَدْعُو بِمَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ prayed over a deceased person, he would say the takbir four times, then say: O Allah, Your servant and the son of Your maidservant is in need of Your mercy, and You are free from need of punishing him. If he was a doer of good, then increase his good; and if he was a doer of evil, then overlook [his sins]. Then he would supplicate as Allah willed him to supplicate.
