حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو يُوسُفَ القَلُّوسِيِّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَابَهْرَامَ الْأَيْذَجِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ قَالَا ثَنَا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الْخَارِكي ثَنَا مَوْدُودُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ كُرَيْبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سَيْفِ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ الْيَرْبُوعِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ ذَهَبَ بِمَالِي كُلِّهِ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي مَالٌ أُعْطِيكَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ أَنْ تَعْرِفَ عَلَى قَوْمِكَ أَو أَلَا أَعْرِفُكَ عَلَى قَوْمِكَ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ أَمَا إِِنَّ الْعَرِيفَ يُدْفَعُ فِي النَّارِِ دَفْعًا

✧ He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, a man from Banu Tamim has taken all my wealth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: I have no wealth to give you. Then he said: Would you like to be appointed as 'arif over your people? Or shall I appoint you as 'arif over your people? I said: No. He said: Indeed, the 'arif will be thrust into the Fire with a shove.
