حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْمَقْدِسِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعَ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّكُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ أَنِّي مِنْ آخِرِكُمْ وَفَاةً وَأَنِّي مِنْ أَوَّلِكُمْ وَفَاةً فَتَتْبَعُونِي أَفْنَادًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ»

✧ I heard Wathilah b. al-Asqaʿ say: The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and said, "You claim that I am among the last of you to die and that I am among the first of you to die. Then you will follow me in bands, striking one another's necks."
