✧ I was among the people of the Ṣuffah, and I saw that not one of us had a complete garment, and sweat had affected our skins with a film of dust and dirt. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us to give glad tidings to the poor of the Muhājirūn. A man with a fine appearance approached, and the Prophet ﷺ would not utter a word except that the man felt compelled to bring words that overpowered the Prophet's ﷺ speech. When he left, he said, "God does not love this man and his voice—they twist their tongues with people as a cow twists its tongue with pasture. Likewise, God will twist their tongues and their faces in the Fire."
