حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ وَرَّادٍ كَاتَبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ قَالَ
سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ لَوْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا مَعَ امْرَأَتِي لَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَتَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ غَيْرَةِ سَعْدٍ؟ فَوَاللهِ لَأَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْ سَعْدٍ وَاللهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي وَمِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهْرَ وَمَا بَطْنَ مِنْهَا وَلَا شَخَصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْعُذْرُ مِنَ اللهِ ﷻ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ رُسُلَهُ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنْذِرِينَ وَلَا شَخَصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْمِدْحَةُ مِنَ اللهِ ﷻ وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ وَعَدَ الْجَنَّةَ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ

✧ Saʿd b. ʿUbādah said: If I saw a man with my wife, I would strike him with the sword. That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said: “Do you marvel at Saʿd’s jealousy? By Allah, I am more jealous than Saʿd, and Allah is more jealous than me. And because of that He forbade immoralities, what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And no person is more beloved to Him than one who offers excuses, than Allah, mighty and majestic is He; because of that He sent His messengers as bearers of good tidings and warners. And no person is more beloved to Him than praise, than Allah, mighty and majestic is He; and because of that He promised Paradise.” The wording is that of the hadith of Abu al-Walīd.
