حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ المُخَارِقِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ جَاءَنِي رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ مَالِي كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنِي؟ قَالَ «فَذَكِّرْهُ بِاللهِ» قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ فَعَلْتُ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهِ؟ قَالَ «تَسْتَغِيثُ بِالْمُسْلِمِينَ» قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ فَعَلْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ؟ قَالَ «تَسْتَغِيثُ بِالسُّلْطَانِ» قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ بَاعَنِي السُّلْطَانُ وَأَبَى إِلَّا أَنْ يَغْصِبَنِي مَالِي؟ قَالَ «فَقَاتِلْهُ حَتَّى تَمْنَعَ مَالَكَ أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنْ شُهَدَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ»

✧ I said, "O Messenger of God, if a man comes to me wanting my property, how do you command me?" He said, "Remind him of God." I said, "What do you think if I do that and he does not refrain?" He said, "Seek help from the Muslims." I said, "What do you think if I do that and I find no one among the Muslims?" He said, "Seek help from the ruler." I said, "What do you think if the ruler forsakes me and insists only on seizing my property?" He said, "Then fight him until you defend your property or you become one of the martyrs of the Hereafter."
