حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَزَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ عَشَّرَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً فِي كُلِّ بَيْتٍ فَكُنْتُ فِي الْعَشَرَةِ الَّذِينَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَنَا إِلَّا شَاةٌ نَتَجَزَّأُ لَبَنَهَا فَكُنَّا إِذَا أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ شَرِبْنَا وَبَقَّيْنَا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ نَصِيبَهُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ وَنِمْنَا فَقَالَ الْمِقْدَادُ لَقَدْ أَطَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا أُرَاهُ يَجِيءُ اللَّيْلَةَ لَعَلَّ إِنْسَانًا دَعَاهُ قَالَ فَشَرِبْتُهُ فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ اللَّيْلُ جَاءَ فَدَخَلَ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ سَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَشُدَّ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الْقَدَحِ فَلَمَّا لَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا سَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنَا اللَّيْلَةَ» فَوَثَبْتُ فَأَخَذْتُ السِّكِّينَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا فَمَسَحَ ضَرْعَهَا فَخَرَجَ شَيْءٌ ثُمَّ شَرِبَ ثُمَّ نَامَ

✧ When we arrived in Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ grouped us in tens, ten in each house. I was among the ten among whom the Prophet was. He said: We had only a sheep whose milk we shared. When the Prophet ﷺ was late, we would drink and leave the Prophet's ﷺ share. One night he was late, and we slept. Al-Miqdad said: The Prophet ﷺ has taken long; I do not think he will come tonight. Perhaps someone invited him. He said: So I drank it. When the night passed, he came and entered. When he entered, he gave the greeting without raising his voice, then went to the bowl. When he saw nothing, he was silent, then said: "O Allah, feed the one who fed us tonight." So I jumped up, took the knife, and brought it to him. He wiped its udder, and something came out, then he drank, then slept.
