حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ
بَعَثَ وَفْدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ فَجَعَلُوا يُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ يَحْثُو فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ وَقَالَ «أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

✧ A delegation from the people of Iraq was sent to Uthman, and they began praising him. Al-Miqdad began throwing dirt in their faces and said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to throw dirt in the faces of the praisers."
