✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and found him standing in prayer. He remained standing until morning, then he prostrated a prostration in which I thought his soul had been taken. He looked at me and said: “O Mu‘ādh, did you see?” I said: O Messenger of Allah, yes, I saw you prostrate a prostration in which I thought your soul had been taken. He said: “Do you know why?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: I prayed as much as my Lord decreed, and my Lord came to me and said: O Muhammad, what shall I do with your ummah? I said: My Lord, You know best. He repeated it three or four times, and the last time He said: What shall I do with your ummah? I said: You know best, O Lord. He said: I will not grieve you over your ummah. So I prostrated to my Lord and your Lord, thankful, for He loves the thankful.”
