✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal informed him, saying: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with a changed complexion and said: "I am Muhammad. I have been given the openings of speech and its closings, so obey me as long as I am among you. And when I am taken away, then upon you is the Book of Allah: make lawful its lawful and forbid its forbidden. Death has come to you; it has come to you with rest and relief. It is a decree from Allah that has preceded. Trials have come to you like patches of dark night. Whenever messengers pass, messengers come. Prophethood has been abrogated and has become kingship. May Allah have mercy on one who takes it by its right and departs from it as he entered it. Hold back, O Mu'adh, and count." He said: When I reached five, he said: "Yazid, may Allah not bless Yazid." Then his eyes shed tears and he said: "Husayn has been announced dead to me, and I was brought his soil and informed of his killer. By the One in whose hand is my soul, no one is killed among a people who do not defend him except that Allah causes division between their chests and hearts, sets their worst ones over them, and clothes them in factions." Then he said: "Alas for the offspring of the family of Muhammad from a successor appointed, living in luxury, who will kill my successor and the successor of the successor. Hold back, O Mu'adh." When I reached ten, he said: "Al-Walid is the name of a Pharaoh, a destroyer of the laws of Islam. Before him is a man from his household. Allah will surely draw his sword, and there will be no sheath for it. The people will differ and will be like this"—and he interlaced his fingers—then he said: "After one hundred and twenty: swift death and rapid killing. In that is their destruction. Then a man from the descendants of al-Abbas will rule over them."
