حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانَ الرَّامْهُرْمَزِيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَوْنَ بْنَ بَكْرٍ الرَّاسِبِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ
كَانَ مُعَاذٌ إِذَا تَهَجَّدَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ قَدْ نَامَتِ الْعُيُونُ وَغَارَتِ النُّجُومُ وَأَنْتَ حَيٌّ قَيُّومٌ اللهُمَّ طَلَبِي لِلْجَنَّةِ بَطِيءٌ وَهَرَبِي مِنَ النَّارِ ضَعِيفٌ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْ لِي عِنْدَكَ هُدًى تَرُدُّهُ إِلَيَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ»
Translation

✧ Mu'adh, when he would perform the night prayer, would say: "O Allah, eyes have slept and stars have set, and You are the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. O Allah, my pursuit of Paradise is slow and my fleeing from the Fire is weak. O Allah, appoint for me guidance with You that You will return to me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not break the promise."
