حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ثنا عَمِّي ثنا ابْنُ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ وَمَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ يُخْبِرَانِ مِنْ خَبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَكَانَ فِيمَا أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُمَا قَالَا لَمَّا كَاتَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُهَيْلَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ عَلَى قَضِيَّةِ الْمُدَّةِ فَكَانَ فِيمَا اشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْهِ سُهَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكَ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَى دِينِكَ إِلَّا رَدَدْتَهُ إِلَيْنَا وَخَلَّيْتَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ فَأَبَى سُهَيْلٌ أَنْ يُقَاضِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَّا عَلَى ذَلِكَ كَاتَبَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَرَدَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَبَا جَنْدَلِ بْنَ سُهَيْلٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ إِلَى أَبِيهِ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَلَمْ يَأْتِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ إِلَّا رَدَّهُ فِي تِلْكَ الْمُدَّةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسْلِمًا وَجَاءَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومِ بِنْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ عَائِقٌ فَجَاءَ أَهْلُهَا يَسْأَلُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُرْجِعَهَا إِلَيْهِمْ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ فِي الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مَا أَنْزَلَ»

✧ He heard al-Miswar b. Makhramah and Marwan b. al-Hakam relating from the news of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the expedition of al-Hudaybiyyah. Among what 'Urwah reported to me from them was that they said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote the treaty with Suhayl b. 'Amr on the day of al-Hudaybiyyah for the agreed period, among what Suhayl b. 'Amr stipulated upon him was that he said: 'No one from us shall come to you, even if he follows your religion, but that you return him to us and leave the way between us and him.' Suhayl refused to make peace with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except on that condition, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote the treaty with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned Abu Jandal b. Suhayl that day to his father Suhayl b. 'Amr. No man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but that he returned him during that period, even if he was a Muslim. Then believing women came as emigrants. Umm Kulthum bt. 'Uqbah b. Abi Mu'ayt left to join the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while she was pregnant. Her family came asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to return her to them, until Allah ﷻ revealed concerning the believing women what He revealed.
