حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَلَمَّا هَجَمْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ تَقَدَّمْتُ أَصْحَابِي عَلَى فَرَسِي فَاسْتَقْبَلَنَا النِّسَاءُ وَالصِّبْيَانُ يَضِجُّونَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تُحَرِّزُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قُلْتُ قُولُوا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَقَالُوهَا فَجَاءَ أَصْحَابِي فَلَامُونِي فَقَالُوا أَشْرَفْنَا عَلَى الْغَنِيمَةِ فَمَنَعْتَنَا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا تَدْرُونَ مَا صَنَعَ؟ لَقَدْ كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ مِنْ كُلِّ إِنْسَانٍ كَذَا وَكَذَا مِنَ الْأَجْرِ» ثُمَّ أَدْنَانِي مِنْهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ صَلَاةَ الْغَدَاةِ فَقُلْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُكَلِّمَ أَحَدًا اللهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ مُتَّ مِنْ يَوْمِكَ ذَلِكَ كَتَبَ اللهُ لَكَ بِهَا جِوَارًا مِنَ النَّارِ وَإِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْمَغْرِبَ فَقُلْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُكَلِّمَ أَحَدًا اللهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ مُتَّ مِنْ لَيْلَتِكَ كَتَبَ اللهُ لَكَ جِوَارًا مِنَ النَّارِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us on a military expedition. When we descended upon the people, I advanced ahead of my companions on my horse. The women and children came out to meet us, crying out. I said to them, "Do you want to secure yourselves?" They said, "Yes." I said, "Say: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger." They said it. Then my companions came and blamed me, saying, "We were about to get the spoils, and you prevented us." Then we returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Do you know what he did? Allah has written for him such-and-such reward for every person." Then he brought me near him and said, "When you pray the morning prayer, say before speaking to anyone: 'O Allah, protect me from the Fire' seven times. For if you die that day, Allah will write for you protection from the Fire. And when you pray Maghrib, say before speaking to anyone: 'O Allah, protect me from the Fire' seven times. For if you die that night, Allah will write for you protection from the Fire."
