حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ عَنْ كَهْمَسٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ قَالَ

قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَقَمْتُ عِنْدَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ عَنْهُ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ حَوْلٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمَا تَعْرِفُنِي؟ قَالَ «لَا» قُلْتُ أَنَا الَّذِي كُنْتُ عِنْدَكَ عَامَ أَوَّلٍ قَالَ «فَمَا غَيَّرَكَ بَعْدِي؟» قَالَ مَا أَكَلْتُ طَعَامًا بِنَهَارٍ مُنْذُ فَارَقْتُكَ قَالَ «فَمَنْ أَمَرَكَ بِتَعْذِيبِ نَفْسِكَ صُمْ يَوْمًا مِنَ السُّرُرِ» قُلْتُ زِدْنِي فَزَادَنِي حَتَّى قَالَ «صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and stayed with him, then I left him. I came to him after a year and said: “O Messenger of Allah, do you not recognize me?” He said: “No.” I said: “I am the one who was with you last year.” He said: “What has changed you after me?” He said: “I have not eaten food during the day since I parted from you.” He said: “Who commanded you to torment yourself? Fast one day of the month of Surur.” I said: “Give me more,” and he increased for me until he said: “Fast three days of the month.”
