حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ كَعْبٍ عَنْ كَعْبٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ أَتَتْهُ أُمُّ مُبَشِّرٍ فَقَالَتْ اقْرَأْ عَلَى ابْنِي السَّلَامَ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَوَمَا سَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «رُوحُ الْمُؤْمِنِ طَائِرٌ تَعْلُقُ فِي شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يُبْعَثَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ» قَالَتْ بَلَى وَلَكِنْ وَهِلْتُ

✧ When death approached him, Umm Mubashshir came to him and said: Convey my greetings of peace to my son. He said to her: Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The spirit of the believer is a bird that hangs in the trees of Paradise until it is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection'? She said: Yes, but I forgot.
