حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا ابْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْوَفَاةُ دَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ أُمُّ بِشْرٍ بِنْتُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَعْرُورٍ فَقَالَتْ

يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنْ لَقِيتَ ابْنِي فَأَقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ فَقَالَ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَكِ يَا أُمَّ بِشْرٍ نَحْنُ أَشْغَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَتْ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَمَا سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ أَرْوَاحِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي أَجْوَافِ طَيْرٍ تَعْلُقُ بِشَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ» قَالَ بَلَى قَالَتْ فَهُوَ كَذَلِكَ

✧ She said: O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, if you meet my son, convey to him from me greetings of peace. He said: May Allah forgive you, O Umm Bishr; we are too busy for that. She said: O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The souls of the believers are in the crops of birds that hang in the trees of Paradise'? He said: Yes. She said: Then it is so.
