حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ

أُمُّ مُبَشِّرٍ لِكَعْبٍ حِينَ حَضَرَ اقْرَأْ عَلَى ابْنِي السَّلَامَ تَعْنِي مُبَشِّرًا فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَكِ يَا أُمَّ مُبَشِّرٍ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعِي مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّ» نَسَمَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ فِي طَيْرٍ تُعْلَّقُ فِي شَجَرِِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَهُ اللهُ إِلَى جَسَدِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَقَالَتْ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ

Translation

✧ Umm Mubashshir said to Ka'b when he was present: Convey my greetings of peace to my son, meaning Mubashshir. Ka'b said: May Allah forgive you, O Umm Mubashshir! Have you not heard what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said? He said: 'The soul of the believer is a bird that hangs in the trees of Paradise until Allah returns it to its body on the Day of Resurrection.' She said: I seek Allah's forgiveness.
