✧ Qabīṣah b. Mukhāriq al-Hilālī came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and greeted him. He returned the greeting, welcomed him, then said to him: “What has brought you, O Qabīṣah?” He said: “O Messenger of God, my age has advanced, my skin has become thin, my strength has weakened, I have become a burden on my family, and I am unable to do things I used to do. Teach me words through which God may benefit me, and be brief.” He ﷺ said: “O Qabīṣah, say three times when you pray the morning prayer: ‘Glory be to God, and with His praise; glory be to God, the Magnificent, and with His praise; and there is no might nor power except with God.’ For if you say that, you will be safe, by God’s permission, from blindness, leprosy, and vitiligo. And say: ‘O God, guide me from Yourself, pour upon me from Your bounty, spread over me from Your mercy, and send down upon me from Your blessings.’” The Messenger of God ﷺ began to say them while Qabīṣah counted them on his fingers.
