✧ We were with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice with these two verses: “O people, fear your Lord. Indeed, the quaking of the Hour is a tremendous thing. On the day you see it, every nursing mother will be distracted from what she nurses.” When we heard that, we urged on our mounts, knowing he was about to say something. When they gathered around him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Do you know which day that is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “That is the day when Adam will call out, and his Lord will call him, saying, ‘Adam, arise and send forth the delegation of the Fire.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how many are to be sent to the Fire?’ He will say, ‘Of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.’” When they heard that, they were struck speechless, so much so that none of them showed a smile. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw what had come upon them, he smiled and said, “Work and receive glad tidings, for by the One in whose hand is my soul, with you are two creatures that have never been with anyone except that they made them numerous.” They said, “Who, O Prophet of Allah?” He said, “Gog and Magog, and those who perished among the children of Adam, and Iblis.” Then he said, “Work and receive glad tidings, for by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are among the people only like a mole on the side of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.”
