حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ وَمُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَا ثنا هِشَامُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ
أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ حُبْلَى مِنْ زِنًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ ذَنْبًا فَأَقِمْهُ عَلَيَّ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلِيَّهَا فَقَالَ «أَحْسِنْ إِلَيْهَا فَإِذَا وَضَعَتْ مَا فِي بَطْنِهَا فَائْتِنِي بِهَا» فَفَعَلَ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَشُدَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابُهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهَا فَرُجِمَتْ ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا وَقَدْ زَنَتْ؟ فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ تَابَتْ تَوْبَةً لَوْ قُسِمَتْ بَيْنَ تِسْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَسِعَتْهُمْ هَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْ جَادَتْ بِنَفْسِهَا لِلَّهِ ﷻ»

✧ That a woman from Juhaynah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while she was pregnant from adultery and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have committed a sin, so carry out [the punishment] on me.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called her guardian and said, “Treat her well, and when she delivers what is in her womb bring her to me.” He did so, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that her clothes be fastened around her, then ordered that she be stoned, and she was stoned. Then he prayed over her. ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb said, “You pray over her when she has committed adultery?” He said, “She has repented with such a repentance that if it were divided among ninety of the people of Madinah it would suffice them. Have you found anything better than her offering her own self to Allah, Mighty and Exalted?”
