✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “How will you be, O Awf, when this community splits into seventy-three sects, one of which is in Paradise and the rest are in the Fire?” I said: And when will that be, O Messenger of Allah? He said: “When the police are many, slave women become rulers, the lowly sit upon pulpits, the Quran is taken as flutes, mosques are adorned, pulpits are raised, the fay’ is taken as spoils of war, zakah is treated as a fine, trust is treated as booty, religious understanding is sought for other than Allah, a man obeys his wife, is undutiful to his mother, and drives away his father, the last of this community curses its first, the wicked of a tribe becomes its leader, and the chief of a people is their most despicable, and a man is honored out of fear of his evil. On that day that will be, and on that day people will flee to Syria, and it will protect them from their enemy.” I said: Will Syria be conquered? He said: “Yes, soon. Then trials will occur after its conquest, then a dusty, dark trial will come, then trials will follow one another until a man from my household emerges, called the Mahdi. If you reach him, follow him and be among the rightly guided.”
