حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي عِتْبَانُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِمَامَ قَوْمِهِ وَقَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ لَمَّا سَاءَ بَصَرِي شَقَّتْ عَلِيَّ إِجَازَةُ الْوَادِي إِذَا سَالَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ مَسْجِدِ قَوْمِي فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ أَرَأَيْتَنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي فَصَلَّيْتَ فِي مَكَانٍ مِنْ بَيْتِي أَتَّخِذُهُ مُصَلًّى فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «سَأَفْعَلُ» فَغَدَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ ؓ فَدَخَلَ فَمَا جَلَسَ حَتَّى قَالَ «أَيْنَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِي بَيْتِكَ؟» فَأَشَرْتُ إِلَى النَّاحِيَةِ الَّتِي أَرَدْتُ فَصَلَّى فِيهَا ضُحَى وَحَبَسْنَاهُ عَلَى خَزِيرَةٍ يُصْنَعُ لَهُ

✧ He was the imam of his people and had witnessed Badr. He said to the Prophet ﷺ: “When my eyesight deteriorated, crossing the valley when it flooded between me and the mosque of my people became hard for me.” On a Friday he said to the Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, tell me: if you came to me and prayed in a place in my house that I would take as a prayer place?” The Prophet ﷺ said to him: “I will do it.” The Prophet ﷺ set out early on Saturday, with Abu Bakr and ʿUmar ؓ. He entered and did not sit until he said: “Where would you like me to pray in your house?” I pointed to the corner that I wanted, and he prayed there in the forenoon. We detained him over a khazirah that was being made for him.
