حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ فَغْوَاءَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَهْرَاقَ الْمَاءَ فَنُكَلِّمُهُ فَلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا وَنُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَا يَرُدُّ عَلَيْنَا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَيَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نُكَلِّمُكَ فَلَا تَكَلَّمُنَا وَنُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَلَا تَرُدُّ عَلَيْنَا؟ قَالَ «حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الرُّخْصَةِ» {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ} الْآيَةُ

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ relieved himself, if we spoke to him he would not speak to us, and if we greeted him he would not return our greeting, until he came to his dwelling and performed the ablution he performed for prayer. We said: "O Messenger of God, we speak to you and you do not speak to us, and we greet you and you do not return our greeting?" He said: "Until the verse of concession was revealed: {O you who believe, when you rise to pray…}"
