حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ وَذَاكَ لَزَوَالِ الشَّمْسِ حِينَ قَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّهُ مِثْلَهُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ حِينَ غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ حِينَ غَابَ الشَّفَقُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ حِينَ بَزَقَ الْفَجْرُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْفَجْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ مِنَ الْغَدِ الظُّهْرَ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّهُ مِثْلَهُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّهُ مِثْلَيْهِ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الْوَقْتَ الْأَوَّلَ حِينَ غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ بَعْدَ أنْ غَابَ الشَّفَقُ وَأَظْلَمَ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ بَعْدَ أنْ طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ وأَسْفَرَ فَقَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ ﷺ مَا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ صَلَاةٌ

✧ Jibril ﷺ came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Stand and pray," and that was at the sun's decline. He said, "Stand and pray," so he stood and prayed Zuhr as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him when his shadow was equal to his height and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed ʿAsr as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him when the sun had set and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed Maghrib as three rakʿahs. Then he came to him when the twilight had disappeared and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed the later ʿIsha' as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him when dawn broke and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed Fajr as two rakʿahs. Then he came to him the next day for Zuhr when his shadow was equal to his height and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed Zuhr as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him when his shadow was twice his height and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed ʿAsr as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him at the first time when the sun had set and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed Maghrib as three rakʿahs. Then he came to him after the twilight had disappeared and it had become dark and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed the later ʿIsha' as four rakʿahs. Then he came to him after dawn had risen and it had become bright and said, "Stand and pray," and he prayed Subh as two rakʿahs. Then Jibril ﷺ said to him, "Between these two is the time for prayer."
