حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَرَّاقُ ثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ الذُّهْلِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي فُلْفُلَةُ الْجُعْفِيُّ قَالَ قَالَ
أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَزَاةٍ فَأَصَابَ النَّاسَ جَهْدٌ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الْكَآبَةَ فِي وَجْهِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْفَرَحَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «وَاللهِ لَا تَغِيبُ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكُمُ اللهُ بِرِزْقٍ» فَعَلِمَ عُثْمَانُ أنَّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ سَيَصْدُقَانِ فَاشْتَرَى عُثْمَانُ أَرْبَعِينَ رَاحِلَةً بِمَا عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الطَّعَامِ فَوَجَّهَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تِسْعَةً مِنْهَا فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا؟» فَقَالُوا أَهْدَى إِلَيْكَ عُثْمَانُ فَعُرِفَ الْفَرَحُ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْكَآبَةُ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدْ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى رُؤِيَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ يَدْعُو لِعُثْمَانَ دُعَاءً مَا سَمِعْتُهُ دَعَا لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ «اللهُمَّ أَعْطِ عُثْمَانَ اللهُمَّ افْعَلْ بِعُثْمَانَ»

✧ Abu Mas‘ud said: We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a military campaign, and the people were afflicted with hardship until I saw gloom on the faces of the Muslims and joy on the faces of the hypocrites. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that, he said, “By Allah, the sun will not set until Allah brings you provision.” Then Uthman knew that Allah and His Messenger would be truthful, so Uthman purchased forty camels with the food that was on them and sent nine of them to the Prophet ﷺ. When the Prophet ﷺ saw that, he said, “What is this?” They said, “Uthman has gifted it to you.” Then joy was recognized on the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and gloom on the faces of the hypocrites. I saw the Prophet ﷺ raise his hands until the whiteness of his armpits was visible, supplicating for Uthman with a supplication I never heard him make for anyone before or after him: “O Allah, give Uthman; O Allah, do for Uthman.”
