حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْجَارُودِيُّ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَفْقَهُهُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْفِقْهِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِلْقُرْآنِ وَلَا يُؤَمُّ الرَّجُلُ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يُقْعَدُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The people should be led by the one who emigrated earliest. If they are equal in emigration, then the one most knowledgeable in the religion. If they are equal in knowledge, then the one most versed in the Qur'an. And no man should lead in another's domain, and no one should sit in his place of honor except with his permission."
