حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ وَعُبَيْدٌ الْعِجْلِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَشُعْبَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا تَؤُمَّنَّ ذَا سُلْطَانٍ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا تَجْلِسْ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The people should be led by the one who is most versed in the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then the one who emigrated earliest. If they are equal in emigration, then the oldest of them. And do not lead a man of authority in his authority, and do not sit in his place of honor except with his permission."
