حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ وَأَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ ثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ قَالُوا ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَوْسَ بْنَ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيِّ
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَتُهُمْ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُمْ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يُؤَمُّ الرَّجُلُ فِي أَهْلِهِ وَلَا فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يُجْلَسُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَكَ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ مَا تَكْرِمَتُهُ؟ قَالَ فِرَاشُهُ وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ حَجَّاجٍ

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "The one who should lead a people in prayer is the best reciter of the Book of God among them; if their recitation is equal, then the earliest of them in emigration; if their emigration is equal, then the eldest of them. A man should not lead in his own family or in his domain of authority, and no one should sit on his place of honor except with his permission, unless he gives you permission." Shu'bah said: I said to him, "What is his place of honor?" He said, "His bed." The wording is that of the hadith of Hajjaj.
