حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إنِّي لَأَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا فُلَانٌ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ فَلَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ وَعَظَهَا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُ غَضَبًا يَوْمَئِذٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ بِهِمُ الصَّلَاةَ؛ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ»

✧ A man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, I keep away from the dawn prayer because so-and-so lengthens the recitation for us." I never saw the Messenger of God ﷺ angrier in an admonition he gave than he was that day. Then he said: "Whoever prays with the people should lighten the prayer for them, for among them are the young, the elderly, the weak, and the one with a need."
