حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إنِّي أَتَأَخَّرُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فُلَانٍ يُطِيلُ بِنَا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَطُّ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ وَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى لِلنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, I stay away from the dawn prayer because so-and-so lengthens it for us." I never saw the Prophet ﷺ angrier in an admonition than he was that day. He said: "O people, among you are those who drive people away. Whoever of you prays with the people should make it brief, for among them are the weak, the elderly, and the one with a need."
