حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ
يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ وَكَانَ لَهُ غُلَامٌ لَحَّامٌ فَرَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَرَفَ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْجُوعَ فَقَالَ لِغُلَامِهِ وَيْحَكَ اصْنَعْ لِي طَعَامًا فَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَدْعُوَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَامِسَ خَمْسَةٍ فَصَنَعَ ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَدَعَاهُ خَامِسَ خَمْسَةٍ فَتَبِعَهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الْبَابَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا تَبِعَنَا فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَائْذَنْ لَهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ رَجَعَ» قَالَ لَا بَلْ آذَنُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ

✧ He was called Abu Shuʿayb, and he had a slave who was a butcher. He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recognized hunger in his face, so he said to his slave, "Woe to you, prepare food for me, for I want to invite the Prophet ﷺ as the fifth of five." He prepared it, then came to the Prophet ﷺ and invited him as the fifth of five. A man followed them, and when he reached the door, the Prophet ﷺ said, "This man has followed us, so if you wish, permit him, and if you wish, he will return." He said, "No, rather I permit him, O Messenger of Allah."
