حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثَنَا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمُّ عَاصِمٍ امْرَأَةُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ قَالَتْ
كُنَّا عِنْدَ عُتْبَةَ نِسْوَةً نَتَطَيَّبُ ونَخْرُجُ وَهُو أطْيَبُنَا رِيحًا مَا يَزِيدُ عَلَى أَنْ يَدَّهِنَ فَقُلْنَا لَه مَا هَذِه الرِّيحُ؟ قَالَ أَخَذَنِي الشَّرَى عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِك إِلَيْه «فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَلْبَسَ عَلَيَّ ثَوْبِي يَعْنِي يُغَطِّي فَرْجَهُ ثُمَّ تَفَلَ فِي يَدِهِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهَا ظَهْرِي وَبَطْنِي»

✧ We were with ‘Utbah — women — perfuming ourselves and going out, while he was the most fragrant of us, doing nothing more than applying oil. We said to him, “What is this fragrance?” He said, “The itch (al-sharā) afflicted me in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ, so I complained to him. He ordered me to wrap my garment over me — meaning to cover his private parts — then he spat into his hand and wiped my back and belly with it.”
