حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةً الدِّمَشْقِيُّ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَحَفْصُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الرَّقِّيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ ثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَا نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ طَاعَةِ مَنِ اتَّقَى وَأَصْلَحَ وَلَكِنْ مَنْ فَعَلَ وَفَعَلَ يَذْكُرُ الشَّرَّ فَقَالَ «اتَّقُوا اللهَ وَاسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا»

✧ We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we do not ask you about the obedience of one who fears Allah and does right, but about one who does such and such, mentioning evil.' He said: 'Fear Allah, and hear and obey.'
