حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثَنَا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ثَنَا أَبُو مُجَاهِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحِلُّ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ يَقُولُ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا يَشْكُو الْعَيْلَةَ وَالْآخَرُ يَشْكُو قَطْعَ السَّبِيلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَّا قَطْعُ السَّبِيلِ فَلَا يَأْتِي عَلَيْكَ إلَّا قَلِيلٌ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الْعِيرُ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ عِيرٌ حَفِيرٌ وَأَمَّا الْعَيْلَةُ فَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَا تَقُومُ حَتَّى يَطُوفَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِصَدَقَتِهِ وَلَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهُ ثُمَّ لَيَقِفَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللهِ ﷻ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ حِجَابُ يُتَرْجِمُ فَلَيَقُولَنَّ «أَلَمْ أُؤْتِكَ مَالًا؟» فَيَقُولُ بَلَى فَيَقُولُ «أَلَمْ أُرْسِلْ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولًا؟» فَيَقُولُ بَلَى ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَلَا يَرَى إلَّا النَّارَ ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا النَّارَ فَلْيَتَّقِ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ

✧ He heard 'Adi b. Hatim say: I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when two men came, one complaining of poverty and the other complaining of highway robbery. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for highway robbery, it will not be long before a caravan departs from al-Hirah to Makkah without a guard. As for poverty, the Hour will not come until one of you goes around with his charity and finds no one to accept it. Then one of you will surely stand before Allah ﷻ with no veil between him and Him, nor an interpreter to translate for him. He will surely say, 'Did I not give you wealth?' He will say, 'Yes.' He will say, 'Did I not send a messenger to you?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then he will look to his right and see nothing but the Fire, then he will look to his left and see nothing but the Fire. So let one of you guard himself against the Fire, even with half a date; if he cannot find it, then with a kind word."
