حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُرْسِلُ كِلَابِي وَأُسَمِّي أَفَآكُلُ مِمَّا أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيَّ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قُلْتُ وَإِنْ قَتَلَتْ؟ قَالَ «وَإِنْ قَتَلَتْ إلَّا أَنْ يَدْخُلَهَا كَلْبٌ مِنْ غَيْرِهَا» قُلْتُ وَالْمِعْراضُ أَرْمِي بِهِ وَأُسَمِّي؟ قَالَ «إنْ خَزَقَ فَكُلْ وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ بِعَرْضِهِ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ»

✧ He asked the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, I send out my dogs and I mention the name of God. May I eat from what they hold back for me? He said: “Yes.” I said: Even if it kills? He said: “Even if it kills, unless another dog besides them joins in.” I said: What about the broad-headed arrow with which I shoot and I mention the name of God? He said: “If it pierces, eat; but if it strikes it with its side, then do not eat.”
