حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثَنَا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إنَّا نُرْسِلُ كِلَابًا فَيُمْسِكْنَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَتْ مُكَلَّبَةً وَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ فَكُلْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَإِنْ قَتَلْنَ؟ قَالَ «وَإِنْ قَتَلْنَ مَا لَمْ يُشارِكْهَا كِلَابٌ مِنْ غَيْرِهَا» قُلْتُ أَجِدُ مَا يُرْمى بِالْمِعْرَاضِ؟ قَالَ «إِذَا ذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ وَخَزَقَ فَكُلْ وَإِنْ قَتَلَ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, we send out dogs and they hold back game for us. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: If they are trained and you mention the name of God, then eat. I said: O Messenger of God, even if they kill it? He said: “Even if they kill it, as long as no dogs other than them share in it.” I said: What do you think about what is shot with a broad-headed arrow? He said: “If you mention the name of God and it pierces, then eat; but if it kills, then do not eat.”
