حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ قَالَا ثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُرْسِلُ كِلَابِي الْمُعَلَّمَةَ فَيُمْسِكْنَ عَلَيَّ أَفَآكُلُ؟ قَالَ «إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كِلَابَكَ الْمُعَلَّمَةَ فَأَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكَ فَكُلْ» قُلْتُ وَإِنْ قَتَلْنَ؟ قَالَ «وَإِنْ قَتَلْنَ مَا لَمْ يُشْرِكْهُمْ كَلْبٌ سِوَاهُمْ» قُلْتُ أَرْمِي بِالْمِعْرَاضِ فَيَخْزِقُ قَالَ إنْ خَزَقَ فَكُلْ وَإِنْ أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, I send out my trained dogs and they hold back game for me. May I eat it? He said: “If you send out your trained dogs and they hold back game for you, then eat.” I said: Even if they kill it? He said: “Even if they kill it, as long as no dog besides them shares in it.” I said: I shoot with a broad-headed arrow and it pierces. He said: “If it pierces, eat; but if it strikes with its side, then do not eat.”
