حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ هُمَا الْخَيْطَانِ قَالَ «إِنَّكَ لَعَرِيضُ الْقَفَا إِنْ أَنْتَ أَبْصَرْتَ الْخَيْطَيْنِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ هُوَ سَوَادُ اللَّيْلِ وَبَيَاضُ النَّهَارِ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, what is the white thread from the black thread? Are they two threads? He said: “You have a broad back of the neck, if you see the two threads.” Then he said: “No, rather it is the blackness of night and the whiteness of day.”
