✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Who will deal with Sufyan al-Hudhali? He satirizes me, reviles me, and harms me.” I said to him, “I will, O Messenger of Allah. Send me against him.” So he sent him. When he came to him at night, he entered his house and called out, “Where is Sufyan?” Someone from his family looked out at him and said, “What do you want?” He said, “I want Sufyan. Tell him to look out at me.” Sufyan looked out at him and said, “What do you want?” He said, “I want you to come down to me, for I have a coat of mail that I want to show you.” He said, “Where is it?” He said, “Here it is. Come down to me in your tent, and come out with me so I can show it to you.” He came out with him, and he drew his sword and struck him until he fell dead. Then he returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in his gathering and informed him that he had killed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a staff on which he leaned. He handed it to him and said, “Lean on this, for those who lean on staffs on the Day of Resurrection will be few.” It remained with him until he died, and it was buried with him.
