حَدَّثَنَا خَيْرُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ التُّجِيبِيُّ قَالَ ثنا هَانِئُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ الْإِسْكَنْدَرَانِيُّ قَالَ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شَمَاسَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَارِيَةَ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ أُمِّ وَلَدِهِ وَهِيَ حَامِلٌ مِنْهُ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ فَوَجَدَ عِنْدَهَا نَسِيبًا لَهَا كَانَ قَدِمَ مَعَهَا مِنْ مِصْرَ فَأَسْلَمَ وَحَسُنَ إِسْلَامُهُ وَكَانَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَأَنَّهُ رَضِيَ بِمَكَانِهِ مِنْ أُمِّ وَلَدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَجُبَّ نَفْسَهُ فَقَطَعَ مَا بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ حَتَّى لَمْ يُبْقِ لِنَفْسِهِ قَلِيلًا وَلَا كَثِيرًا فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا عَلَى أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَوَجَدَ قَرِيبَهَا عِنْدَهَا فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ كَمَا يَقَعُ فِي أَنْفُسِ النَّاسِ فَرَجَعَ مُتَغَيِّرَ اللَّوْنِ فَلَقِيَ عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا وَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِهِ مِنْ قَرِيبِ أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَأَخَذَ سَيْفَهُ وَأَقْبَلَ يَسْعَى حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى مَارِيَةَ فَوَجَدَ قَرِيبَهَا ذَلِكَ عِنْدَهَا فَأَهْوَى إِلَيْهِ بِالسَّيْفِ لِيَقْتُلَهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ كَشَفَ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ عُمَرُ رَجَعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُ أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ ﷺ أَتَانِي فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَدْ بَرَّأَهَا وَقَرِيبَهَا مِمَّا وَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي وَبَشَّرَنِي أَنَّ فِي بَطْنِهَا غُلَامًا مِنِّي وَأَنَّهُ أَشْبَهُ الْخَلْقِ بِي وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُسَمِّيَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَكَنَّانِي بِأَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُحَوِّلَ كُنْيَتِي الَّتِي عُرِفْتُ بِهَا لَتَكَنَّيْتُ بِأَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَمَا كَنَّانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Umm Ibrahim, Mariyah the Copt, the mother of his son, while she was pregnant from him with Ibrahim. He found with her a relative of hers who had come with her from Egypt, had embraced Islam, and whose Islam was good. He used to visit Umm Ibrahim. Because he was content with his position in relation to the mother of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ child, he castrated himself and cut what was between his legs until he left himself neither little nor much. One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Umm Ibrahim and found her relative with her, and something fell into his heart concerning that, as happens in people's hearts. He returned with changed color and met Umar, telling him what had fallen into his heart about Umm Ibrahim's relative. Umar took his sword and hurried until he entered upon Mariyah and found that relative of hers with her. He swung the sword at him to kill him, but when the man saw that, he uncovered himself. When Umar saw him, he went back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Shall I not tell you that Jibril ﷺ came to me and informed me that Allah ﷻ has cleared her and her relative of what fell into my heart, and he gave me glad tidings that in her womb is a boy from me and he is the most resembling of creation to me, and he commanded me to name him Ibrahim and gave me the kunya Abu Ibrahim. Were it not that I dislike changing my kunya by which I am known, I would have taken the kunya Abu Ibrahim as Jibril ﷺ gave me.”
