✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out and said: “God, exalted is He, is not made great by any sin He forgives. A man from among those before you killed ninety-eight people. He came to a monk and said: ‘I have killed ninety-eight people; do you find any repentance for me?’ He said to him: ‘You have gone too far.’ So he rose against him and killed him. Then he came to another monk and said: ‘I have killed ninety-nine people; do you find any repentance for me?’ He said: ‘No, you have gone too far.’ So he rose against him and killed him. Then he came to another monk and said: ‘I have killed one hundred people; do you find any repentance for me?’ He said: ‘You have gone too far, and I do not know. But here are two villages: one village called Naḍrah and the other called Kufrah. As for Naḍrah, its people do the deeds of Paradise, and no one else settles there. As for Kufrah, its people do the deeds of the people of the Fire, and no one else settles there. Go to Naḍrah, and if you settle there and act like its people, there is no doubt about your repentance.’ So he set out intending it, until when he was between the two villages death overtook him. The angels asked their Lord about him, and He said: ‘Look to which of the two villages he was closer, and record him as one of its people.’ They found him closer to Naḍrah by a fingertip, and he was recorded as one of its people.”
