حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ثنا أَبُو جَمْرَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ
قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا هَذَا الْحَيُّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ قَدْ حَالَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ وَلَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي شَهْرٍ حَرَامٍ فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَعْمَلُ بِهِ وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا قَالَ آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ الْإِيمَانِ وَفَسَّرَهَا لَهُمْ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُقَيَّرِ
Translation

✧ The delegation of ʿAbd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, we are this clan of Rabiʿah, and the disbelievers of Mudar have come between us and you, and we cannot reach you except in a sacred month. So command us with a matter that we may act upon and to which we may call those behind us.” He said: “I command you with four things and forbid you from four: faith” — and he explained it to them — “the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of prayer, the giving of zakah, and that you pay one-fifth of what you take as spoils. And I forbid you from the dubba’, the hantam, the naqir, and the muqayyar.”
