حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا عَطَاءُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ ثنا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
أَهْدَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى أَبِي بَكَارَةً فَاسْتَصْغَرَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي انْطَلِقْ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا بُنَيَّ فَقُلْ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ نَعْمَلُ فَإِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَكَ أَسَنُّ مِنْهَا فَابْعَثْ بِهَا إِلَيْنَا فَأَتَيْتُ بِهَا فَقَالَ «ابْنَ عَمِّي وَجِّهْهَا إِلَى إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ» ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ الْعِشَاءَ فَقَالَ «مَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَبِيتَ عِنْدَ خَالَتِكَ اللَّيْلَةَ؟ قَدْ أَمْسَيْتَ» فَوَافَقْتُ لَيْلَتَهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَيْتُهَا فَعَشَّتْنِي وَوَطَّأَتْ لِي عَبَاءَةً بِأَرْبَعَةٍ فَافْتَرَشْتُهَا فَقُلْتُ لَأَعْلَمَنَّ مَا يَعْمَلُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الليلة فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَيْمُونَةُ» قَالَتْ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «مَا أَتَاكِ ابْنُ أُخْتِكِ؟» قَالَتْ بَلَى هُوَ هَذَا قَالَ «أَفَلَا عَشَّيْتِيهِ إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَتْ قَدْ فَعَلْتُ قَالَ «فَوَطِئْتِ لَهُ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَمَالَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَلَمْ يَضْطَجِعْ عَلَيْهِ وَاضْطَجَعَ حَوْلَهُ وَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ فَمَكَثَ سَاعَةً فَسَمِعْتُهُ قَدْ نَفَخَ فِي النَّوْمِ فَقُلْتُ نَامَ وَلَيْسَ بِالْمُسْتَيْقِظِ وَلَيْسَ بِقَائِمٍ اللَّيْلَةَ ثُمَّ قَامَ حَيْثُ قُلْتُ ذَهَبَ الرُّبُعُ الثُّلُثُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَأَتَى سِوَاكًا لَهُ وَمَطْهَرَةً فَاسْتَاكَ حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ صَرِيرَ ثَنَايَاهُ تَحْتَ السِّوَاكِ وَهُوَ يَتْلُو هَؤُلَاءِ الْآيَاتِ {إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّماَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ}

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ gave a young she-camel to Abu Bakr as a gift, but he deemed it too young. Then he said to me: "Take it to the Messenger of God ﷺ, my son, and say: We are working people; if you have one older than it, send it to us." So I brought it, and he said: "O son of my uncle, direct it to the camels of zakat." Then I came to him in the mosque and prayed ʿisha with him. He said: "Do you want to spend the night at your maternal aunt's? It has become evening." And it coincided with her night with the Messenger of God ﷺ. So I went to her, and she fed me supper and spread for me a cloak folded four times, which I used as a mattress. I said to myself: I will certainly observe what the Prophet ﷺ does tonight. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ entered and said: "O Maymunah." She said, "At your service, O Messenger of God." He said: "Has your nephew come to you?" She said, "Yes, here he is." He said: "Did you give him supper if you had anything?" She said, "I did." He said: "And you spread for him?" She said, "Yes." Then he turned to his bed, but did not lie on it; he lay down beside it and placed his head on the bed. He remained for a while, and I heard him snore in sleep. I said: He has slept, and he is not awake, and he will not stand tonight. Then he got up when I thought a quarter or a third of the night had passed. He went to his siwak and a water vessel, and used the siwak until I heard the grating of his front teeth under the siwak, while he was reciting these verses: {Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...}
