✧ Abu Malik al-Janbi narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah ﷻ spoke to Musa in one hundred and forty thousand words over three days. When Musa ﷺ heard the speech of human beings, he despised them because of what had entered his ears from the speech of the Lord ﷻ. Among what He confided to him was: "O Musa, those who put on a show have not put on a show with anything like asceticism in this world, and those who seek closeness to Me have not drawn near with anything like piety from what I have forbidden them, and those who worship have not worshipped with anything like weeping out of fear of Me." Musa said: "O Lord of all creation, O Master of the Day of Judgment, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, what have You prepared for them and how have You rewarded them?" He said: "As for the ascetics in this world, I will permit them to enter My Paradise, and they will settle wherever they wish. As for the pious who abstain from what I have forbidden them, on the Day of Resurrection, no servant will remain but that I will take him to account and scrutinize him, except the pious, for I will be shy of them, honor them, and admit them to Paradise without reckoning. As for those who weep out of fear of Me, they will have the highest station, in which they will not be shared with.""
