حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْحَوْطِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ثنا حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ جَحَّاشٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَصَقَ يَوْمًا عَلَى كَفِّهِ فَوَضَعَ عَلَيْهَا إِصْبَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ لَنْ تُعْجِزَنِي وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا سَوَّيْتُكَ وَعَدَّلْتُكَ مَشَيْتَ بَيْنَ بُرْدَيْنِ وَلِلْأَرْضِ مِنْكَ وَئِيدٌ فَجَمَعْتَ وَصَنَعْتَ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ قُلْتَ أَتَصَدَّقُ وَأَنَّى أَوَانُ الصَّدَقَةِ؟

✧ That the Prophet ﷺ spat one day on his palm and placed his finger on it, then said: “O son of Adam, Allah ﷻ says: You will never frustrate Me, for I created you from something like this. Then when I fashioned you and proportioned you, you walked between two garments, and the earth resounded from your heavy tread. Then you gathered and withheld until when it reached the collarbones, you said, 'Should I give charity?' But how, when it is the time of charity?”
