حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ {مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى} فَقَرَأَ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ {عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ} يَعْنِي غَنَائِمَ بَدْرٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحِلَّهَا لَهُمْ يَقُولُ «لَوْلَا أَنِّي لَا أُعَذِّبُ مَنْ عَصَانِي حَتَّى أَتَقَدَّمُ إِلَيْهِ» {لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ}

✧ From Ibn Abbas: {It is not for a prophet to have captives} he recited until he reached {a great punishment}, meaning the spoils of Badr before He made them lawful for them, saying: "Were it not that I do not punish those who disobey me until I have given them prior warning," {a great punishment would have touched you for what you took}.
