حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَائِلَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيُّ ثنا أَبُو مَرْيَمَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
إِنَّمَا جَعَلَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُمْرَةً فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدِمُوا مَكَّةَ قَبْلَ عَرَفَةَ بِأَرْبَعِ لَيَالٍ فَكَرِهَ أَنْ يَمْكُثَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَرْبَعَ لَيَالٍ لَا يَطُوفُونَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّهُمْ إِذَا طَافُوا بِالْبَيْتِ حَلُّوا إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ سَاقَ هَدْيًا فَقَالَ «عُمْرَةٌ اسْتَمْتَعْنَا بِهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ دَخَلْتِ الْعُمْرَةُ فِي الْحَجِّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ made it an ʿumrah. They had arrived in Makkah four nights before ʿArafah, and he disliked that the Muslims should remain for four nights without circumambulating the House. He knew that if they circumambulated the House they would come out of iḥrām, except for those who had brought sacrificial animals. So he said three times: "An ʿumrah from which we have benefited. Then the ʿumrah was incorporated into the ḥajj until the Day of Resurrection."
